La Falegnameria

 Until the first half of last century it housed the carpentry of  Maestro Nicola Zecchino. On the old workbench, still present in the living area, dozens of furniture and fixtures were created with art, skill and dedication. Today, on the same workbench, old bottles of wine belonging to the family collection of his descendants are exhibited.

The fire was lit in the fireplace to melt the glue using the same copper container that is still present inside, while the coals with which the master and his workers were heated during the winter were collected in the brazier.

The bathroom was mostly dug into the rock and the whirlpool tub was created where, once upon a time, rainwater from the terrace was collected.

After the 2nd world war, the first shop in Ostuni opened in these premises, where they sold the sewing machines and taught young girls how to use them. The presence of the young maidens, during the hours in which the sewing courses were held, constituted a great attraction for the boys.

The old SINGER and the charcoal iron in the bedroom are the testimony of another piece of history of the house.
